The Hall of Illusions is the Beacon dungeon at Mushroom Village Gate in Fainweald. Its route uses perspective-based illusion doorways, a breakable hidden wall, and a final encounter with Vrannic the Grand Illusionist. Clearing the dungeon also opens the route toward Glutted Mire.

Hall of Illusions is entered through the Mushroom Village Gate Beacon, east / southeast of Mushroom Village in Fainweald.

Use the Beacon as your route anchor. The dungeon is tied to the progression route toward Glutted Mire.

For the wider Beacon network, see the Beacons and fast travel guide.

Enter the Beacon dungeon from Mushroom Village Gate and continue until you reach the first freestanding illusion doorway / frame.

Hall of Illusions does not treat every doorway like a normal passage. The route can change depending on the side and angle from which you view the frame, so the main puzzle rule is to reposition before assuming a doorway is blocked.

At the first lone doorway:

  1. Approach the frame.
  2. Move around to the far side.
  3. Look back through the doorway from that side.
  4. When the route changes, pass through the frame.

The important action is viewing the doorway from the opposite side before walking through it.

How to solve the second doorway and hidden wall

Section titled “How to solve the second doorway and hidden wall”

A second illusion doorway continues the same perspective-based progression.

After passing it, you reach a room that appears to have no obvious exit. The next route is behind a breakable / illusory wall.

Descriptions place the wall opposite the entrance / beside the tree. Use that as the search area rather than expecting a precise coordinate marker.

Break the hidden wall and continue into the next section.

The next room can also look sealed at first.

This time, look upward.

Vrannic is positioned on a raised wooden platform above the room. Spotting him advances the route toward the boss encounter.

If you are searching only at ground level, this is the step that is easiest to overlook.

Vrannic the Grand Illusionist uses both ranged projectiles and staff / melee attacks.

During the clone phase, multiple Vrannic copies appear. The useful behavioral difference is:

  • the real Vrannic moves and uses melee attacks
  • the clones are more stationary and fire projectiles

Use movement and melee behavior to identify the real target instead of guessing from appearance alone.

The clones can be dispelled very quickly, so clearing a fake target does not have to stop the fight for long.

After the second illusion doorway, search the sealed room for the breakable wall described as opposite the entrance / beside the tree.

After breaking the hidden wall, continue into the next sealed-looking room and look upward for Vrannic on the raised wooden platform.

The real Vrannic moves and uses melee attacks. The clones are more stationary and rely on projectiles.

The Volatile Fragment Tarstone.

Yes. Completing the Beacon dungeon opens / cleanses the route toward Glutted Mire.
