  • How to skip: Progress beyond Marrow Keep in the Open Beta, then choose the optional Prologue skip during the full-game start flow if the option is available.
  • Should you skip: First-time and completion-focused players should normally play the Prologue. Returning Beta players who value a faster start can consider skipping.
  • What you miss / keep: The skip bypasses two confirmed Prologue trophy opportunities and is not a Beta inventory transfer—Beta currency, weapons, Shells, and collectibles reset.

How to unlock and use the Prologue skip (steps)

Section titled “How to unlock and use the Prologue skip (steps)”
  1. Play the Open Beta and progress past Marrow Keep.
  2. When starting the full game, watch the start/new-character flow for an optional Prologue skip—if you unlocked it in Beta, the start flow may offer it.
  3. Selecting the skip (if available) begins your full-game run beyond the Prologue.
  • Do not rely on this page for exact menu wording or prompt timing; exact UI text and timing were not published in the checked first-party sources.
  • The full game has released; this skip is a launch-era option tied to Beta progress beyond Marrow Keep.
  • Play the Prologue if this is your first full-game run or you want to experience all content and trophy opportunities.
  • If you played the Beta and want a faster start for a later run, skipping can save time. Consider the missing trophy opportunities and inventory reset before choosing.

What the skip bypasses and what does/doesn’t carry over

Section titled “What the skip bypasses and what does/doesn’t carry over”
  • Confirmed Prologue opportunities bypassed:
  • Beta save/carry-over: The skip is not a Beta save transfer. Beta currency, weapons, Shells, collectibles, and other discovered items reset. For full Beta carry-over details see: mortal-shell-ii/beta-progress-carry-over/.
  • Developer statement: a developer-marked Steam answer indicates the skip can roughly compensate some Prologue Gloom/currency, but exact amounts or which items are compensated are not confirmed by first-party sources.
  • New Game Plus: New Game Plus begins at Marrow Keep and does not replay the Prologue opportunities you skipped. See: mortal-shell-ii/new-game-plus/.
  1. Assuming the skip transfers Beta weapons or collectibles — it does not.
  2. Expecting New Game Plus to restore skipped Prologue opportunities — it begins at Marrow Keep and won’t replay those moments.
  3. Searching for specific start-flow menu text here — exact UI wording and timing aren’t published; follow the in-game prompts if you unlocked the feature.

Steam: Prologue Skip or Beta Reward Not Showing

Section titled “Steam: Prologue Skip or Beta Reward Not Showing”

This is a developer-confirmed Steam workaround for detection/entitlement issues. Follow these steps in order:

  1. Confirm you used the same Steam account for the Open Beta.
  2. Exit and relaunch the full game once.
  3. Make sure Mortal Shell II Open Beta is still added to the Steam Library.
  4. Relaunch the full game.
  5. If the unlock still does not register, developer guidance says to start reinstalling the Beta, then pause the install around 7%, and relaunch the full game.
  6. Once the rewards appear in the full game, the Beta can be uninstalled.

The developer’s pinned Known Issues also lists having the Beta present in the Library or partially installed as a workaround. This is entitlement detection/troubleshooting only: it does not restore the Beta save, weapons, Shells, currency, collectibles, or other Beta progress.

Eligibility note: PlayStation Store copy states progressing beyond Marrow Keep unlocks the optional Prologue skip; later Steam developer replies say 30+ minutes in the Open Beta qualifies for The Flayed Harbinger and the Prologue skip. Both first-party claims are reported here and are not reconciled.
