The reliable Withered Shoals route is Gate of Mammon → Ossinite Falls → Nameless Pass → Hexapod’s arena. Cleanse the Gate of Mammon Beacon if the Corrupted Gate is blocked, use the named Beacons and environmental landmarks as checkpoints, and search for the post-boss Beacon before leaving. This guide uses no map coordinates because current route sources do not share one audited coordinate system.
Withered Shoals route at a glance
Section titled “Withered Shoals route at a glance”- Cleanse Gate of Mammon Beacon if needed to open the Withered Shoals Corrupted Gate.
- Enter the area and follow the wooden platforms and skeletal remains. The Strange Grisha side route is optional; continue forward for the main route.
- Activate and cleanse Ossinite Falls Beacon. Check the waterfall afterward for the optional Torpor Stone.
- Follow the cliff route, wall crack, and descending cavern to Nameless Pass Beacon.
- Cleanse Nameless Pass through Odious Crevice, check the Ova and nearby Charged Stone chest, then return to the surface.
- Follow the path toward Ruk. Before the hollowed-tree/tube drop, check the lower landmark cluster for the optional Depleted Gland.
- Summon Proxima only if you want optional help, then drop into the void/fog to start Hexapod.
- After the fight, find and cleanse Hexapod’s Burrow Beacon, then collect the Ova/Ovum. See Ova and corruption progression for the wider handoff.
Before entering the Corrupted Gate
Section titled “Before entering the Corrupted Gate”Cleanse Gate of Mammon
Section titled “Cleanse Gate of Mammon”Start at Gate of Mammon Beacon in the Mammon overworld. If the Withered Shoals entrance is still covered by corruption, choose the Beacon’s cleanse interaction and complete that short route first. GameSpot’s Mammon Beacon coverage identifies this cleanse as the step that grants access to the Withered Shoals Corrupted Gate.
The wider Mammon gate order is flexible. Some walkthroughs approach Gate of Mammon from Mammon Outskirts, while others describe an elevator and jump-gate approach from another Mammon checkpoint. These are different overworld approach descriptions, not a reason to search for another dungeon entrance. Use the Beacon label and the visible Corrupted Gate; do not rely on a compass coordinate.
For the difference between discovering, resting, cleansing, and travelling from a Beacon, see Beacons and fast travel.
Complete Withered Shoals walkthrough
Section titled “Complete Withered Shoals walkthrough”1. Cross the early platforms
Section titled “1. Cross the early platforms”Enter the opened gate and move through the first waterlogged section. Eel enemies, large snails, weaker summoned enemies, and wooden platforms are the main early route checks. When a snail opens its mouth, be ready to parry or block if that is part of your normal approach; do not let several enemies surround you on the narrow platforms.
You may see a side path toward Strange Grisha. That encounter is optional. The sources place the branch at slightly different points around the early Ossinite Falls approach, so use the visible side route as the check and continue forward if your goal is Hexapod.
2. Activate Ossinite Falls Beacon
Section titled “2. Activate Ossinite Falls Beacon”Continue through the brigand and skeletal-remains section until you reach Ossinite Falls Beacon. If it is corrupted, select Cleanse Beacon and clear the Broodshell Nest route. The cleanse is complete when you have removed the corruption, collected the Ovum, and returned to the Beacon.
After the Beacon, enter the waterfall if you want the optional Torpor Stone Tarstone. It is a useful side pickup, not a requirement for Nameless Pass or Hexapod. Return to the Beacon area before continuing.
3. Use the cliff and cavern landmarks
Section titled “3. Use the cliff and cavern landmarks”From the waterfall area, follow the climbable path along the cliff. The checked walkthroughs describe a short item branch, more enemies, and a crack in the wall that leads downward. Once inside the lower route, keep moving through the cavern with large snails and head enemies.
Do not force one external guide’s left/right sequence here. The stable confirmation is the combination of the cliff path, wall crack, descending cavern, and the next named checkpoint: Nameless Pass Beacon.
4. Cleanse Nameless Pass Beacon
Section titled “4. Cleanse Nameless Pass Beacon”Nameless Pass is the second Withered Shoals Beacon and the last practical checkpoint before Hexapod. At the Beacon, look for the throne and Dorsalite stone. The route behind it leads into Odious Crevice.
Clear the enemies in the crevice and continue through the tunnel-like path. The Ova is below the exit, and Into Indie Games reports a chest to the right containing the Charged Stone Tarstone. Check those landmarks before returning to the surface and treating the Beacon as complete.
Some guides warn that a large snail’s shell can resemble the Beacon from a distance. If the label does not read Nameless Pass, you have not reached the checkpoint yet.
5. Check the optional Depleted Gland
Section titled “5. Check the optional Depleted Gland”After Nameless Pass, follow the rocky route toward Ruk and the final arena approach. Before committing to the drop into the void or fog, inspect the lower area around the hollowed tree / tube structure for the Depleted Gland.
This pickup is optional. It is associated with the Seedbearer’s Scripture side objective, but no checked source proves that it is required to enter or defeat Hexapod. The exact approach is not settled: sources mention a drop below Ruk, a one-level landing in a tube structure, a torch, or the underside of the hollowed tree. Treat these as the same landmark cluster and do not search by a fixed coordinate.
6. Drop into Hexapod’s arena
Section titled “6. Drop into Hexapod’s arena”If the optional summon sign is present, Proxima can provide ranged support for a Glimpse. She is not required. Rest and replenish at Nameless Pass, then make the final drop into the void/fog when ready.
The full attack plan belongs to the Hexapod boss guide. For this route, remember only the high-level rule: let the tentacle sequence or charge finish, use lateral movement for the red-warning charge, and do not treat a later red warning as a free-hit signal. The boss page records the current conflict between two-phase and three-stage descriptions instead of collapsing them into one unsupported claim.
7. Finish the route after Hexapod
Section titled “7. Finish the route after Hexapod”When Hexapod falls, search the misty arena for the new Hexapod’s Burrow Beacon. The Beacon can be easy to miss because of the arena’s size and fog. Activate and cleanse it, then collect the associated Ova/Ovum before leaving.
Do not plan around a fixed Ova or Gloom number: checked guides report different reward totals and use source-specific counts. Use the Ova guide and the prompt shown by your current build for progression.
Route uncertainties and common mistakes
Section titled “Route uncertainties and common mistakes”Mammon approach descriptions differ
Section titled “Mammon approach descriptions differ”Some sources start at Mammon Outskirts and travel southwest; others route through a different Mammon Beacon before reaching Gate of Mammon. Use Gate of Mammon Beacon and the visible Withered Shoals Corrupted Gate as the stable access check. The broader Mammon gate order is not presented here as mandatory.
Do not turn landmarks into coordinates
Section titled “Do not turn landmarks into coordinates”The sources agree on the main landmarks but not on a shared room map. Use Ossinite Falls, the waterfall, the wall crack, Nameless Pass, Odious Crevice, Ruk, and the hollowed tree/tube structure. Do not use a third-party x/y marker as if it were a repository coordinate.
Strange Grisha is optional
Section titled “Strange Grisha is optional”The side route near the early Ossinite Falls section is not required for Hexapod. Guide narration places the branch at slightly different points, so follow the visible side path if you want the encounter and otherwise continue on the main path.
Depleted Gland placement is not one fixed turn
Section titled “Depleted Gland placement is not one fixed turn”The lower drop below Ruk, tube structure, torch, and hollowed-tree descriptions overlap but do not establish a universal turn sequence. Inspect the landmark cluster before the final drop. The item is optional, so do not delay the main route if your build does not expose the same angle.
Search for the post-boss Beacon
Section titled “Search for the post-boss Beacon”The post-boss Beacon is called Hexapod’s Burrow in local and external coverage, but some sources describe it only as the new Beacon in the arena. Search the foggy arena, cleanse it, and collect the Ova/Ovum before travelling away.
